41% Republicans reluctant to inoculate against coronavirus: Poll

Washington: The PBS NewsHour/NPR/Marist poll has revealed that 49 per cent of Republican adherents are reluctant to inoculate against the novel coronavirus.

The Hill news website reported that the poll, released on Thursday, surveyed 1,227 American adults from March 3 to 8. Approximately 30 per cent of the sample said they would refrain from the vaccination.

Republicans are highly opposed to the vaccination; the poll reveals 41 per cent voluntarily abstain from taking one among the three federally approved coronavirus vaccine, with 49 per cent Republican men endorsing the same. Fifty per cent said they had already inoculated or foresee getting it done, while 1 per cent are still in doubt.

But 87 per cent of democrats either intend to get vaccinated or already received the dose.

According to the Centre for Disease Control and Prevention, at least a single dose of Covid 19 vaccine is being received by 19 per cent of the US population, and that is more than 64 million people. The polls added that only 10 per cent or 33.9 million people got fully vaccinated.
