Thousands of Instagram users reported that the app is down and is not allowing them to access their accounts. The outage has led to the suspension of several accounts. Many received the notification - "we suspended your account on October 31, 2022."

One user said the app asked them to enter their email id and phone number to access the account. According to the outage-tracking website Downdetector, nearly 7,000 users were affected. However, the number might be higher.

Instagram responded to the issue on Twitter and wrote: "We're aware that some of you are having issues accessing your Instagram account. We're looking into it and apologize for the inconvenience."

Many users also received warnings that their accounts may be suspended. They did not receive a reason. Some people also reported that their follower count was suddenly dropping. A look at Cristiano Ronaldo's Instagram account showed the loss of 3 million followers. According to The Verge, the issue seems concentrated among iPhone users.
