New Delhi: Congress leader Sonia Gandhi has joined Instagram, using her first post to introduce her forthcoming memoir, Belonging: A Journey of Love, which is scheduled for release on November 10.

The Congress Parliamentary Party chairperson shared a video featuring the book and her daughter, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra. The footage shows Gandhi browsing through its pages and photographs before sharing an embrace with Priyanka.

In her introductory message, Gandhi described the memoir as a reflection on love, responsibility, grief and the search for belonging. She is currently following three accounts on the platform: those of Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra and the Congress party.

The 79-year-old leader has largely remained absent from social media, unlike her children, who have established substantial followings across multiple platforms.

Her Instagram debut comes weeks after her memoir became embroiled in a publishing dispute. Penguin Random House India withdrew from the project following disagreements over proposed editorial revisions, including changes to portions of the manuscript.

Congress leaders alleged that the publisher faced pressure over passages concerning Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the RSS and India-China relations. Penguin, however, maintained that editorial review and fact-checking were part of its publishing process.

HarperCollins India subsequently acquired the publishing rights and announced that the book would be released on November 10, 2026.
