Instagram tests read-only mode to block likes, comments and messages

Instagram is testing a read-only profile mode that would allow users to browse accounts without interacting with their content, according to app researcher Alessandro Paluzzi.

The experimental feature would prevent users from liking or commenting on posts, sending direct messages, following accounts or viewing Stories while the mode is active.

The option appears to be linked to a paid add-on package, although Instagram has not confirmed the test or its pricing.

The feature could help users avoid accidental interactions while browsing profiles. Instagram has not announced whether or when the option will be rolled out.
