India to host Asian Senior Wushu Championships for first time in 2028

India will host the Asian Senior Wushu Championships for the first time in 2028, with around 500 athletes from 42 countries expected to participate in the competition.
The decision was approved at the Wushu Federation of Asia Congress held in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan.
Suhel Ahmed represented India on behalf of the Wushu Association of India at the meeting.
The 11th edition of the championship is also expected to bring coaches, judges, technical officials and sports administrators from across Asia to India.
In another development, Bhupender Singh Bajwa of the Wushu Association of India was nominated as a member of the Executive Committee of the Wushu Federation of Asia during the Congress.
Welcoming India's selection as the host, Bajwa said the event was a matter of pride for the country's Wushu community but added that the focus would now be on organising a high-quality international competition.
“To make this championship memorable and historic, the entire Indian Wushu fraternity must work together with one mission, one vision and one commitment,” Bajwa said.
He added that the aim should be to ensure that the championship sets a new international benchmark for organisation and grandeur.
