Kolkata: 26-year-old Sahal Abdul Samad has signed a 5-year contract with Mohun Bagan. This trade-in has also led to Pritam Kothal, the Indian Super League winning captain signing a 3-year contract with Kerala Blasters FC.

"It's with a heavy heart that the Club bids adieu to Sahal, and we wish him the best in his journey ahead." tweeted the Kerala Blasters FC.

Sahal joined KBFC in 2017 and won the ISL Emerging-Player-of-the-Season award in 2018-19. He was asked to play for his country and debuted at the King’s Cup in Thailand in 2019 and secured the AIFF-Emerging-Player-of-the-Year award.

Sahal has made 30 international appearances and secured the Intercontinental Cup once and SAFF Championship twice. In the 2019-2020 ISL season, Sahal appeared in all KBFC matches from the bench. He then extended his contract with KBFC and assisted 3 goals in the 2020-21 ISL season.

I-League (2015) and Federation Cup (2016) winner Pritam Kothal has been a part of Mohun Bagan Super Giants since 2014. Mohun Bagan has also secured Australian player Jason Cummings and Armenian player Armando Sadiko into their team.
