Birmingham: Indian boxers Nitu Ghanghas and Amit Panghal made dominating battle in the semis to enter the finals in their respective categories in the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham on Saturday. These were the only semifinals for India in the morning section on Saturday, IANS reported.

Nitu had beaten Canada's Priyanka Dhillon into submission in the semis of women's Minimum-weight (over 45-48kg) contest and won the match after the referee stopped the fight with the opponent totally outclassed.

Meanwhile, Amit scored a 5-0 win on points against Zambia's Patrick Chinyemba in the semis of the men's flyweight (over 48-51kg) division.

Nitu had started aggressively giving no room for her opponent to challenge her, and the match was a treat to watch. She won the first round with 10 points from all five judges.

She knocked down her opponent twice and was given the standing court twice. Then the referee was forced to call off the bout.

In the case of Amit, he won a close first round after three of the five judges adjudged him as lost. But he came back strongly in the next round and won the bout with four of the five judges' support. In the third round also, he won with four of five judges' cards to enter the final of the CWG 2022.
