Hangzhou: Indian athlete Aditi Ashok secured a silver medal in women's golf at the Asian Games in Hangzhou after a topsy-turvy final day.

Aditi, who began the day with a commanding seven-stroke lead, carded a 73 in the final round, resulting in a slip to the second position. Her four-day aggregate score was 17-under 271.

Thailand's Arpichaya Yubol claimed the gold medal with an impressive final-round score of 64, while Korea's Hyunjo Yoo won the bronze with a score of 65.

Despite narrowly missing the gold, Aditi's performance was commendable.

She is a two-time Olympian and came close to winning a medal at the Tokyo Games, finishing fourth. This silver medal marked India's fourth individual medal in golf at the Asian Games.

Previously, Lakshman Singh and Shiv Kapur had won gold in 1982 and 2002, respectively, and Rajiv Mohta secured a silver in New Delhi. In addition, the Indian team, consisting of Lakshman, Rajiv, Rishi Narain, and Amit Luthra, had won the team gold in 1982, with two team silver medals in 2006 and 2010.

However, India's other two players, Pranavi Urs and Avani Prashanth, struggled in the final round, carding scores of 75 and 76, respectively. As a result, the Indian women's team finished in fourth place in the competition.
