Indians celebrated 71st Independence Day with much fanfare on Tuesday. Independence Day, on August 15, is celebrated widely with flags hoisted in schools and colleges, and at government buildings and major landmarks.

In Kerala, Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan addressed the State after unfurling the national flag at the Central Stadium here. State ministers also unfurled the national flag at various district headquarters.
