New Delhi: The Supreme Court on Wednesday stepped in asking the Delhi Court to hear pleas related to hate speeches that flared up the riots in Delhi.

The apex court directed Delhi High Court to hear on Friday all pleas for FIRs against politicians who made hate speeches.

The Supreme Court termed the period of adjournment as "unjustified". Because, the order gave the city police and central government several weeks to reply to one such petition.

As a result of the Supreme Court’s direction, the petition filed by activists activists Harsh Mander and Farah Naqvi and others will be heard by the Delhi Court on Friday.

Petitioners sought to file FIRs against BJP leaders including Kapil Mishra for their alleged hate speeches.

Delhi has barely recovered from the raging violence that killed dozens and injured 200, turning the Capital city’s several regions into ghost towns.
