Congress in a shock after Scindia exit
text_fieldsNew Delhi: As Jyodiraditya Scindia has rocked the Congress boat and jumped to the BJP after 18 years of partnership, the grand old party's losses are on different fronts. The party is staring at losing the Madhya Pradesh rule and the loss of the party base. The exit of a young leader who was seen as a trusted hand by Rahul Gandhi, is intensifying anxiety about the party’s future. Scindia's exit is an evidence of the party's apathy and loss of direction and leadership.
As Cnogress wilts under a loss, the BJP is counting the fortunes to follow after the induction of the young leader. More than Scindia's induction, the saffron party is calculating on the overall weakening of Congress in Madhya Pradesh. Also, BJP can now win two Rajya Sabha seats in the upcoming election with its added strength of the defecting members in the assembly.
Jyotiraditya Scindia, son of Madhava Rao Scindia, was the trusted leader of Indira Gandhi and her son Rajiv Gandhi. Despite the deminishing grandeur of the royalty, theScindia family boasts of its roots in Nepal, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra and others. If the once loyal figures like Sachin Pilot or Scindia can switch sides, the party leadership fears that there is no holds to bar others even in their safe territory. The exit also shows the depth of the rupture between the senior and junior leaders. Congress is now awaiting a similar turn of events in Rajasthan where Sachin Pilot is at loggerheads with Ashok Gehlot.
Samir Dwivedi, son of Janardhan Dwivedi, who in the past used to write political speeches for Sonia Gandhi, joined BJP only recently. Many inMadhya Pradesh blameKamal Nath's aggressiveness who was reluctant to give the PCC president post to Scindia.
Scindia was dismayed after Kamal Nath and Digvijay Singh joined hands to deny the Rajya Sabha seat for him. He also took note that the propaganda war on alloting the Rajya Sabha seat to Priyanka Gandhi was to sideline him. He was more disturbed after Sonia Gandhi refused an audienceto hear the grievance.
However, Scindia's stint in BJP will also not be a comfortable one. Narendra Singh Tomar, the trusted hand of the Modi-Sha duo, will turn out to be a rival for Scindia. As Modi's politics is based on OBC sentiments, royal-born Scindia's induction will not do much in a bargain.
