New Delhi: Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla on Tuesday adjourned the House sine die at the conclusion of the Budget Session.

Birla announced that the lower House passed a total of 36 Bills which, he said, was the maximum since 1992.

The Bills include the Protection of Human Rights (Amendment) Bill, 2019, the Motor Vehicles (Amendment) Bill, 2019, the Muslim Women Protection Bill, the Surrogacy (Regulation) Bill and Jammu and Kashmir Reorganisation Bill 2019 which bifurcate Jammu and Kashmir into two Union territories -- Jammu and Kashmir with a legislature, and Ladakh Union Territory without a legislature.

The House had 37 sittings during session of the House in which lasted for 280 hours.

It was the first session of the 17th Lok Sabha which started on June 17. On June 17 and June 18, the 539 newly-elected members took oath.
