Bengaluru, May 19 (IANS) Chief Minister B.S. Yeddyurappa resigned on Saturday before facing a crucial trust vote in the Karnataka Assembly with numbers stacked against the BJP in the newly elected House.
Yeddyurappa told the House, "I will not face confidence vote; I am going to resign". Before making his declaration, he made a passionate speech about his past, dedication to people's cases, and arguing that the mandate was against the Congress. He also lauded prime minister Narendra Modi for not ignoring the state.
The resignation came two days after he took oath as the 15th Chief Minister of the state.
