Srinagar: "Et tu, Karnataka?" former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah took to Shakespeare in an evidently surprised mood about the results of the Karnataka Assembly vote count on Tuesday that showed the BJP crossing the half way mark.

When most states, barring southern states of the country, had fallen prey to the BJP ride, southern states by and large had held out against tide. Karnataka occupied a special place as the surviving bastion of former ruling party of the Centre, Indian National Congress. Exit poll forecasts had mostly predicted a hung house and the Janata Dal Secular(JDDS) was anticipated to play a crucial king-maker role. That calculation has been belied now. And Omar's tweet camem in the wake of Opposition hopes that Karnataka would survive the BJP bid.

The National Conference leader took to twitter as the Bharatiya Janata Party appeared set to return to power in its only southern bastion.
