No urgent hearing on plea against Karnataka government: SC

New Delhi: The Supreme Court on Friday refused to hold an urgent hearing on a plea challenging the JD-S-Congress coalition government in Karnataka, contending that it was against the wishes of the people of the state.
A lawyer from Karnataka urged a vacation bench of Justice Adarsh Kumar Goel and Justice Ashok Bhushan to hear the matter later in the afternoon, saying the people of Karnataka had voted for the BJP by giving it 103 seats but H.D. Kumaraswamy (of the Janata Dal-Secular) became the Chief Minister against the wishes of the voters.
He sought the reversal of the top court order passed following a "midnight" hearing of a plea by the Congress and the JD-S against Governor Vajubhai Vala's decision to invite BJP leader B.S. Yeddyurappa to take oath and form the government.
