Tribal youth lynched in Gujarat over suspicion of theft
text_fieldsA 22-year-old adivasi youth was allegedly lynched by a mob in Gujarat's Dahod.
His friend, who was also lynched by the mob, was seriously injured on Saturday night after a mob beat them up over suspicion of committing theft near Kali Mahudi village in Jhalod taluka of Dahod district.
According to the police, deceased Ajmal Vahoniya and his friend Bharu Mathur, who has several cases of robbery and theft against them, were thrashed with wooden sticks by a group of 20 people. The attackers suspected them to be thieves.
A case of murder, rioting and assault was lodged against unidentified persons at Limdi police station today, police said. But, no arrest have been made so far.
Police officials said they were informed about the incident by some villagers. When the police reached the spot, the mob was raining blows on the duo.
One of the victim died on the spot while the other one was rushed to the government hospital in Limdi. Police said they were trying to identify those who were involved in the incident and further investigations are underway.
