10 nabbed in Muzaffarpur shelter home sexual abuse
text_fieldsMuzaffarpur: Ten people have been nabbed in the Muzaffarpur shelter home sexual abuse case in which twenty inmates allegedly faced sexual assault.
Those arrested included district Child Protection Officer of Muzaffarpur and women staff members of the shelter home.
Alongside, the shelter home is facing serious allegations of the murder and burial of one of the inmates at the premises of the facility. The gruesome matter came to light following a social audit by a Mumbai-based institute.
Social Welfare department filed a case against the shelter home last month. Following a fellow inmate’s tip off on the murder of the girl, the Bihar Police dug up the grounds of the facility, but didn’t fine the body. The NGO running the shelter home has been blacklisted.
All the inmates have been shifted to shelter homes in other districts and the premises here have been sealed.
More than half of the forty inmates were found to have been sexually exploited, says one officer. Opposition RJD in Assembly demanded CBI probe in the case involving bigwigs of the state.
