States come out in support to Kerala
text_fieldsThiruvanthapuram: As Kerala is grappling with the worst crisis in its history, gesture of kindness pour in to the southern state in the form of financial assistance and food materials.
Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik offered Rs 5 crore in addition to the five crore he had sanctioned earlier. Alongside, the state would send 500 MT of polythene sheet worth Rs crore, reports IANS.
Odisha had already dispatched two hundred and forty-four Fire Service Personnel, 65 rescue boats and equipment for rescue operations.
Another state to offer help yesterday was Assam with shelling out Rs 3 crore in financial aid.
Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal directed the state’s Revenue and Disaster Management Department to set up helpline.
Expressing grief over phone to Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, Jammu and Kashmir Governor N.N. Vohra informed his state’s support and announced financial help of Rs 2 crore.
As celebrities come out in droves to support Kerala, East Bengal footballers collect funds for Kerala relief fund. The team raised crowd funds from spectators after a match it had against Aryan Club on Saturday night.
States including Gujarat and Rajasthan announced financial support of 10 crore each earlier yesterday.
In an all-out support, Telangana dispatches 100 metric tonne food for children in Kerala as well as Rs 25 crore in aid.
