Three children dead after drowning in swimming pool

Dammam: Three children including brothers hailing from Kerala died here after they drowned in a swimming pool. Safwan (6) and Soufan (4), children of Navas Basheer and Soumi, and a child of Gujarati family drowned in the pool adjacent to their residence here in the First Industrial City.

The unfortunate incident happened around 4.30 pm on Monday.

The pool which had been empty for a long time was filled with water after the rainfall during the last few days.The children went to the pool with Soufan being the first to slip into the water. The other two jumped in to save him.

Other children who were at the spot informed the elders who rushed to the place and saved the drowned children. They were taken to the nearby hospital where the three were confirmed dead.

Soufan and Safwan were students of Dammam Indian School.

Navas Basheer resident of Kollam district is employed here at Basic Chemical Industries. Soumi is based in Nooranadu of Alappuzha.
