Hyderabad: Jawaharlal Nehru University Students' Union (JNUSU) President Kanhaiya Kumar would visit Hyderabad today.

Kumar would speak at the Hyderabad Central University (HCU) in the evening and a meeting on 'Constitutional Rights' at the Sundarayya Vignana Kendram here, CPI national executive member K Narayana said.

The events are organised by student groups and AISF, he said.

The university authorities have, however, barred outsiders from entering the campus and classes have been suspended for four days.

Barricades have been erected at main gate and other small gates that lead into the university and even media people were being stopped at the main gate itself.

"In view of the situation, classes are suspended from March 23 to 26. We have taken a decision not to allow any outsider, including mediapersons and political parties, on the campus," Registrar M Sudhakar told PTI when asked about the proposed visit of JNU students' union president Kanhaiya Kumar to the university.

Kanhaiya shot to national limelight after facing sedition charges.

A group of students Tuesday allegedly ransacked the official residence of Hyderabad Central University (HCU) Vice-Chancellor Prof Appa Rao Podile, protesting against his resumption of duty after having been on long leave.

Prof Podile had gone on a long leave at the height of students' agitation seeking justice for Dalit research scholar Rohith Vemula who committed suicide on January 17 at a hostel room in the HCU campus.
