We don’t recruit Muslims, says Modi govt’s AYUSH Ministry
text_fieldsNew Delhi: Ministry of AYUSH (Ayurveda, Yoga & Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha and Homoeopathy) has said “as part of a government policy, no Muslims was invited, selected, or sent abroad."
A total of 711 Muslim yoga trainers had applied for the short-term assignment abroad but none was even called for an interview while 26 trainers (all Hindus) were sent abroad on this assignment, The Milli Gazette reported quoting an RTI reply.
The RTI request was filed by investigative journalist Pushp Sharma, who had asked about Muslim teachers and trainers recruited by the AYUSH ( Ayurveda, Yoga and Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha and Homeopathy) Ministry for foreign assignments during the World Yoga Day last year.
The reply also revealed that 3841 Muslim candidates applied till October 2015 for the post of Yoga trainer/teacher with the Ministry but none was selected.
The RTI reply of the Ayush Ministry bluntly revealed the reason for the rejection of all applications by Muslim Yoga teachers as follow: “As per government policy – No Muslim candidate was invited, selected or sent abroad.”
The Milli Gazette says that they will carry the investigative report on the RTI reply from the AYUSH Ministry in its coming 16-31 March print edition.
Meanwhile, AYUSH Minister Sripad Naik rejected the reports which claimed that his department did not recruit Muslims for short-term positions as trainers for WorldYoga Day as it was against Government policy.
Naik termed such reports doing the rounds as false, saying it was just an attempt to defame them. He further assured of a probe into the whole incident.
