No change in NEET medical entrance test: SC
text_fieldsNew Delhi: The Supreme Court Friday said that the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) would conduct the National Eligibility Entrance Test (NEET) on May 1 and July 24 for admission to under-graduate medical courses as it had earlier directed.
Besides NEET, the medical entrance examination being conducted by some states including Andhra Pradesh, Gujarat, Maharashtra, Telangana and others would also take place separately.
An apex court bench headed by Justice Anil R. Dave also asked additional solicitor general Pinky Anand and others to file applications seeking whatever relief they want.
Earlier in the day, Attorney-General Mukul Rohatgi pleaded for a modification of the Bench’s order of April 28, 2016, giving the nod for conduct of NEET 2016-17 across all States.
Rohatgi submitted that entrance exams for the year in several States like Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh and Telangana were in the offing or going on and a sudden change in the schedule and system would lead to confusion and more pressure on lakhs of students.
