The UAE has announced sweeping changes in its federal government structure, including the formation of a new Ministry of Foreign Trade and a broader role for artificial intelligence in governance, as part of a strategy to strengthen national decision-making and future-readiness.

Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, made the announcement, detailing the

The National Artificial Intelligence System will serve as an advisory member of the Cabinet, the Ministerial Development Council, and all federal boards of directors, starting January 2026.

“The goal is to support decision-making in these councils, conduct immediate analyses of their decisions, provide technical advice and enhance the efficiency of government policies adopted by these councils across all sectors”, said Sheikh Mohammed.

He emphasized the importance of evolving governance in a dynamic global landscape, “prepare for the coming decades, ensure prosperity and a decent life for future generations".

Additionally, the government has rebranded the Ministry of Economy to the Ministry of Economy and Tourism, now led by Abdulla bin Touq Al Marri, in a move that highlights the strategic role of tourism in the nation's economic development.

These structural changes come as part of the UAE’s broader effort to innovate governance models and align national strategies with long-term development goals.
