Dubai: An Indian expat student, Netra Venkatesh, aged 17 and hailing from DIA Emirates Hills, has achieved remarkable recognition at the 25th Anniversary of The Diana Award ceremony in London. The Legacy Award, presented by Prince William and Prince Harry, celebrates young individuals who demonstrate exceptional dedication to social action and humanitarian endeavours.

SpunkGo: Empowering Girls Globally

Venkatesh, founder of SpunkGo, has made significant strides in empowering girls globally through her organization. With a membership of over 5,000 young women from disadvantaged backgrounds spanning 20 countries, SpunkGo operates as a vibrant online community. Through the provision of free life skills and webinars featuring inspiring female speakers, SpunkGo equips girls with valuable knowledge and opportunities for personal growth.

Venkatesh expressed gratitude for the recognition.

She said, “It was an honor to receive this award from Prince William and Harry. I am most happy for the further recognition this brings to the 5,000-plus girls of SpunkGo. This award will go a long way to further our cause of empowering girls across the developing world via education.”

In addition to Venkatesh’s achievement, several other young talents from Innoventures Education were acknowledged for their remarkable accomplishments. Notably, a team of four brilliant young girls from DIA Emirates Hills, Eva Chacra, Caitlyn Rodrigues, Afia Suhail and Siddhi Rai, secured the third position in the prestigious Harvard Crimson Global Case Study Competition. Despite their tender age of 14, they outshone 800 teams worldwide, showcasing innovative problem-solving skills and critical thinking on a global platform.

Further accolades were bestowed upon an all-girl team comprising eight exceptional students from Years 10 and 11 at DIA Emirates Hills, who successfully graduated from the Swift Accelerator programme by Sandooq Al Watan. Under the guidance of Apple-certified developers, these students honed their app development skills in a rigorous six-month program.

Poonam Bhojani, CEO of Innoventures Education, expressed deep admiration for the dedication and passion exhibited by the students.

“We are deeply inspired by the dedication, imagination, and passion of our girls. Their achievements underscore the power of future-focused education and our focus on empowering young girls to be change makers”, said Bhojani.

Echoing this sentiment, Hitesh Bhagat, Principal at DIA Emirates Hills, commended the students for exemplifying the spirit of Innoventures Education, characterized by Achievement, Innovation, and Responsibility.
