An Indian expatriate tragically died while scuba diving off Jumeirah Beach in Dubai during the Eid Al Adha holidays. The deceased, 29-year-old Issac Paul Olakkengil, was a civil engineer hailing from Naduvilangadi village in Kerala’s Thrissur district.

The incident occurred on Friday, June 6, while Olakkengil was participating in a beginner-level scuba diving session with his wife, Reshma and younger brother, Ivin. According to local media reports, he encountered breathing difficulties underwater and suffered a cardiac arrest.

Despite being swiftly pulled from the water and transported to a nearby hospital, medical personnel were unable to revive him.

His younger brother, Ivin, also collapsed during the ordeal and remains under close medical supervision.

Authorities have launched a formal investigation into the incident and have confiscated the diving equipment for forensic examination. The family is coordinating with Dubai Police and Indian consulate officials to facilitate the repatriation of Olakkengil’s body to India.
