Indian consulate in Dubai dismisses claims of advisory on UAE companies

The Consulate General of India (CGI) in Dubai has denied issuing any warning to Indian exporters regarding companies based in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
The clarification came after an article published on the Juris Hour website falsely attributed a press release to the consulate, claiming that India’s Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) had cautioned businesses about fraudulent practices in the UAE.
In an official statement, the consulate refuted the claims, stating that no such advisory had been released. It also urged Juris Hour to remove the misleading article and reminded the public that official announcements are only published on its website.
The original article alleged that the MEA had warned Indian exporters about “certain UAE-based companies, particularly in the foodstuff and general trading sectors,” citing complaints from exporters and trade partners. It also wrongly suggested that exporters could seek guidance from Indian diplomatic missions regarding these companies.
Following the consulate’s response, Juris Hour updated its article, admitting that the claim was based on a “fake circular.”
Indian diplomatic missions in the UAE frequently caution the public about fraudulent messages and scam calls falsely attributed to them. Businesses and individuals are advised to verify information through official government sources to avoid falling victim to misinformation.
In a similar incident in September 2024, the CGI in Dubai had warned Indian expatriates about scam calls demanding payments under the guise of consulate officials.
