Emirates suspends flights to and from Iran, Iraq until October 16

Emirates has cancelled its flights to and from Iran and Iraq until October 16, 2024, due to escalating tensions in the region. The suspension affects flights to Iraq’s Baghdad and Basra cities, as well as Iran’s capital, Tehran.
The airline has also clarified that passengers transiting through Dubai with final destinations in Iraq or Iran will not be permitted to travel from their point of origin until the specified date. Previously, Emirates had announced cancellations to and from Iran until October 8, but this period has now been extended.
In a related move, Emirates has maintained the suspension of its flights to and from Lebanon up to and including October 15, as tensions in the region continue to heighten.
These flight suspensions come in the wake of concerns about possible Israeli retaliation following Iran's missile attack on Israel last Tuesday. Iran has since warned of an even stronger response if its infrastructure is targeted.
In addition to the flight cancellations, Emirates has introduced a ban on pagers and walkie-talkies on flights to, from, or via Dubai. Passengers are prohibited from carrying these devices in both check-in and cabin baggage, reflecting heightened security measures.
This latest development marks a precautionary measure by Emirates as regional instability persists. The airline continues to monitor the situation closely.
