Dubai expands e-bike delivery service to 11 areas after trial

Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority has expanded its e-bike delivery service to seven more areas, taking total coverage to 11 zones across the emirate.
The newly added areas are Al Twar 1, Al Twar 2, Al Qusais 1, Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Boulevard, Dubai Media City, Jumeirah Lakes Towers and Dubai Marina.
They join the four pilot areas where the service was launched in February: Al Karama, Al Hamriya, Umm Hurair and Al Mankhool.
RTA said the expansion is part of Dubai’s Commercial and Logistics Land Transport Strategy 2030 and the First and Last-Mile Strategy, which focus on reducing costs, improving delivery operations and encouraging more sustainable transport options.
The authority said the new areas were selected based on infrastructure readiness, availability of cycling tracks, neighbourhood layout, proximity to restaurants and retail outlets, business demand and the number of soft mobility users already operating in those locations.
The service is being expanded in partnership with private delivery operators under agreements covering operating rules, safety requirements and compliance procedures.
During the pilot phase, RTA recorded customer satisfaction of about 99 per cent, while satisfaction among delivery riders exceeded 90 per cent.
The authority said it worked with partners during the trial to address operational challenges and develop regulatory solutions for the service.
The expansion follows wider measures introduced by RTA to regulate the delivery sector, including updated licensing requirements and changes to rules covering quality control, operations, monitoring and compliance.
RTA said the framework responds to the growth of Dubai’s delivery sector in recent years and the rising number of delivery bikes on the emirate’s roads.
