Dubai Municipality has alerted residents to hidden cyber threats linked to scanning unverified QR codes, which can expose personal data, passwords and bank details.

In a public awareness video, the municipality advised users to avoid entering sensitive information on websites accessed via QR codes unless fully verified. Residents should also ensure links start with “https://” and avoid scanning codes in public areas without confirming their source.

The campaign forms part of Dubai Municipality’s ongoing efforts to enhance digital awareness and combat cyber fraud exploiting modern technologies and communication tools.
