The Saudi Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture has announced a new investment opportunity through the Furas Platform, inviting investors to establish a fish farm utilizing aquaponics technology in Jubail Governorate. The project, which covers a total area of 40,000 square meters, aims to produce both fish and plants, contributing to local biodiversity, enhancing self-sufficiency and ensuring food security.

“Aquaponics integrates plant and fish cultivation, utilizing fish waste to nourish plants and plant nutrients to feed fish", the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported.

“This sustainable method enhances water quality in aquaculture. It combines aquatic life and plant growth without soil, promoting eco-friendly food production using natural fish fertilizers to boost plant growth and productivity".

The ministry emphasized the environmental benefits of this approach, “This approach improves crop quality, productivity, and environmental conservation by avoiding chemical pesticides and fertilizers".

The deadline for submitting bids for the venture is November 27. Interested investors can review the terms, specifications, and necessary documents on the Furas Platform. For further inquiries, the ministry can be contacted via email at [email protected].
