Riyadh Zoo reopened this weekend with free entry as part of Riyadh Season 2025, welcoming visitors to explore its upgraded facilities and new attractions.

Located in the Al-Malaz district, the 161,000-square-meter zoo houses more than 1,600 animals across six zones designed to resemble natural habitats such as forests, swamps and coastal areas. Visitors can take part in feeding sessions, educational activities and interactive exhibits.

New features for 2025 include an elephant experience that allows close viewing and a giraffe and African exhibit with an elevated observation deck. The venue also offers daily circus and magic shows, along with roaming performers, food stalls and children’s play areas.

The zoo, which first opened in 1957, is home to species including the African elephant, cheetah, giraffe and the endangered Arabian leopard. Originally a private collection for King Saud and the royal family, it opened to the public in 1987 and underwent major refurbishment in 2008 following a drop in attendance.

Riyadh Zoo operates daily from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and can accommodate up to 12,000 visitors at a time. Tickets are available through Webook.
