Makkah museum shows how Qur’an was written in Prophetic era
text_fieldsThe Holy Qur’an Museum in Makkah’s Hira Cultural District is offering visitors a closer look at the materials used to write the Qur’an during the Prophetic era.
The museum displays replica models of items on which Qur’anic verses were recorded before the scripture was compiled into a single volume.
The exhibits include leather parchments, palm fronds, wood, stone and animal bones, including shoulder blades and ribs.
Through explanatory panels and interactive presentations, visitors can learn how the Prophet’s companions documented the revelation and how these early writing materials were used.
The museum also highlights the efforts made across generations to preserve the Qur’an in its original form.
One of the main attractions in the Hira Cultural District, the museum traces the history of the Qur’an, its sciences and the stages of its writing and compilation through modern exhibition halls and digital displays.
