Modi condemns airport attack, expresses solidarity with Kuwait
text_fieldsKuwait’s Amir Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah received a phone call from Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday during which the two leaders discussed bilateral relations and recent regional and international developments.
During the conversation, Mr Modi renewed India’s condemnation of what he described as Iranian attacks targeting Kuwaiti territory and airspace, including the recent strike on civilians and Kuwait International Airport.
The Indian prime minister said the attack resulted in the death of an Indian national and injuries to others, describing it as a violation of Kuwait’s sovereignty, international law and the United Nations Charter.
He also expressed India’s solidarity with Kuwait and support for measures taken by the country to protect its sovereignty, security and stability.
Sheikh Meshal conveyed his condolences over the death of the Indian citizen who was killed in the attack and wished those injured a speedy recovery.
The Amir also thanked Mr Modi for India’s support for Kuwait and its backing of efforts aimed at safeguarding the country’s security and stability.
The two leaders also reviewed the longstanding ties between Kuwait and India and discussed issues of mutual interest.
