Kuwait: The Indian Embassy in Kuwait revealed on Monday the inauguration of the first Hindi radio broadcast in the country, aiming to foster closer ties between India and Kuwait.

In a statement released by the embassy, appreciation was expressed towards Kuwait's information ministry for launching a Hindi program on Radio Kuwait. This initiative is seen as a significant step towards enhancing cultural exchange and understanding between the two nations.

The Hindi program will be aired on FM 93.3 and AM 96.3 every Sunday from 8:30 to 9:00 pm (AST), beginning April 21, 2024. This regular broadcast slot provides listeners in Kuwait with an opportunity to engage with the Hindi language and Indian culture.

With approximately 1 million members, the Indian community forms the largest expatriate group in Kuwait. Their diverse contributions span various sectors, including engineering, medicine, finance, technology and retail. The establishment of the Hindi radio broadcast reflects the importance of catering to the cultural needs of this vibrant community.

India and Kuwait share a history of amicable relations, rooted in mutual respect and cooperation. Trade ties between the two nations have flourished over the years, with India playing a significant role in Kuwait's economic development. The recent celebration of the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations highlights the enduring bond between the two countries.

Indian Ambassador to Kuwait, Adarsh Swaika, recently met with Kuwaiti Deputy Prime Minister, Defense Minister and Acting Interior Minister Sheikh Fahad Al-Yousef Al-Sabah. During the meeting, Ambassador Swaika commended Kuwait's expatriate-friendly policies and briefed him on the latest developments within the Indian community.
