An Indian expat living in Bahrain has won the latest Dubai Duty Free Millennium Millionaire draw held on Wednesday at Dubai International Airport (Image Dredits : Gulf News)

Dubai: A Bahrain-based Indian expat was announced as the latest winner of the $1 million Dubai Duty Free raffle on Wednesday. Sunil Kumarkathuria, a resident of Manama became the 342nd person to win the million dollars.

Kumarkathuria also became the 170th Indian to win the $1 million at the DDF Millennium Millionaire draw since the start of the Millennium Millionaire promotion in 1999.

He had purchased the ticket online on October 17. The 33-year-old, who has been participating in the raffle for 15 years, held ticket number 3904 in Millennium Millionaire Series 342, reports Khaleej Times.

Kumarkathuria was delighted that the ticket number that his father selected online has made him a millionaire.

Speaking to Gulf News from Bahrain, where he was born and raised, Kumarkathuria told : "I am a second generation expat living here. It has been almost 10-12 years since I visited Dubai,"

"It (money) will be put to good use. I want to do some charity, perhaps buy a home... Right now we are just excited with the win," he added

"Thank you Dubai Duty Free for making my dream come true and I wish all the people behind this amazing promotion all the best." he said to media.

Kumarkathuria who lives with his parents, added that he will discuss with his parents and see what to do with the money.

According to DDF organisers, Indian nationals make up the highest number of ticket buyers.

Following the Millennium Millionaire draw, the Dubai Duty Free Finest Surprise draw for a luxury car and two motorbikes was also conducted.

Safvan Puzhiveetil Abdul Rasak, a 49-year-old Indian national based in Sharjah, won a BMW 750Li xDrive M Sport (Mineral White) car with ticket number 0844 in Finest Surprise Series 1761, while Bitto Peter, an Indian national based in Dubai, won a BMW R nineT (Stereo Metallic Matt) motorbike with ticket number 0208 in Finest Surprise Series no. 428.

Melina Nazareth, a 39-year-old Indian national based in Kuwait, won a Harley-Davidson Softail Street Bob (Barracuda Silver Denim) motorbike with ticket number 0551 in Finest Surprise Series no. 429.
