A relationship coach from Kerala has accused her husband, who is also a social media influencer, of physically assaulting her, according to a police complaint.

Gigi Mario and her husband, Mario Joseph, known for their online relationship counselling sessions and advice on maintaining “happy family life,” are founders of the Philokalia Foundation — an organisation involved in family counselling, matrimonial services, and charitable activities.

The couple often deliver motivational and spiritual talks at church events and conducts retreats and workshops for couples and youth, Indian Express reported.

Police said that based on Gigi’s complaint, Mario Joseph was booked on November 1 under sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) related to causing hurt, wrongful restraint and destroying property.

According to the FIR filed at the Chalakudy police station in Thrissur district, the alleged incident occurred on October 25. Gigi claimed that during a discussion about their personal issues, her husband struck her on the head with a set-top box, dragged her by the hair, and assaulted her. The complaint also alleged that he damaged her mobile phone, valued at ₹70,000.

Police said an investigation is underway into the allegations.
