Thrissur: Guruvayur Shri Krishna temple in Thrissur will ritually purify its pond today after a non-Hindu woman washed her feet there.

Guruvayur Devaswom said vlogger Jasmin Jaffer violated temple pond’s sanctity by filming a reel washing her feet in the pond, India Today reported.

The temple authorities have restricted ‘darshan’ from 5 am to noon, allowing devotees to enter the temple only after ritual purification is completed.

It is reported that rituals would include 18 pujas and 18 sheevelis taking place in 6 days with authorities urging devotees to cooperate with the restrictions.

Meanwhile, Devaswom administrator OB Arun Kumar lodged complaint with the temple police after Jasmin Jaffer, who is a former Bigg Boss contestant and social media influencer, made the video six days ago.

In his complaint Arun Kumar alleged that the pond’s sanctity was violated alongside causing disobedience of the High Court order prohibiting photography and videography in the temple’s restricted zones.

Police reportedly told the court that a case would be registered as per the court’s directive.

As the controversy began roiling, Jaffer deleted the video alongside issuing an apology, claiming she was unaware of the temple’s restrictions.
