Kannur: CPM central committee member MC Josephine died here on Sunday. She was 74.
The former Kerala Women's Commission chairperson collapsed after a heart attack on Saturday night.
She was attending CPM Party congress underway in Kannur.
Josephine was immediately taken to AKG hospital in Kannur nearby where she was reportedly on ventilator.
In June last year she had quit as Women's Commission chairperson after criticism for her uncaring response to a woman's complaint.
Josephine was previously the chairperson of the Greater Cochin Development Authority (GCDA).
Central committee member Mohammed Yousuf Tarigami was also admitted to the hospital after not feeling well.
