54 cases filed in Kerala for spreading instigative contents through social media after blasts
text_fieldsThiruvananthapuram: In the wake of the recent explosions at a Christian prayer meeting close to Kalamassery in Kochi, Kerala Police claimed it has filed 54 charges for spreading communally instigative content on social media.
The police reported on Saturday that the Malappuram district had the highest number of cases (26), followed by Ernakulam (15), and Thiruvananthapuram (5).
Thrissur City and Kottayam have reported two cases each, while Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Palakkad and Kozhikode Rural have one case each, PTI reported.
The police, in a release, said they have identified numerous fake profiles which have been used to share posts that can instigate communal hatred.
"Requests have been made to Facebook, Instagram, X, WhatsApp and other social media platforms to identify the IP addresses of such fake profiles. The cyber cell in the state is functioning round the clock to identify such handles," the release said.
