Kannur: Following data breach in Kasaragod, details including address and phone numbers of patients in the district are leaked.

The official data of more than 9,000 including contact cases, uploaded on Google map, ended up on social media.

Cyber cell had earlier developed a link adding the data onto Google map, which now seems to have leaked.

The link ran on social media with the caption: details on the COVID-19 patients in kannur.

The link went dead after the incident was brought to the attention of the authorities.

As it worked, a touch on the red circle on the window provided details of the patients, violet circle took to address and details of primary contacts, and the green provided details of secondary contacts.

Details including the distance and root map to the patients’ houses were also leaked.

It is believed to have been leaked from the WhatsApp group of police.

Kannur Collector TV Subhash called it a serious lapse and he said a report regarding this would be submitted to the government.
