Thiruvananthapuram: The government will be levying the proposed flood cess on good and services from July 1 onwards against the previous plan of implementing it from June.
The move is part of avoiding a tax on the cess. The cess would be levied only after adequate changes in the GST rules are made based on recommendations of GST council.
Finance Minister T.M. Thomas Isaac said in a press release that traders had sought more time for collecting the cess.
