Thiruvananthapuram: The state and the centre reached a consensus on Tuesday regarding the NH 66 development in the state, by clearing decks for the four/six-laning from Kasaragod in the north to Karode in the south.
The Centre agreed to the State’s offer to share 25% cost of the acquisition of the remaining land for the project.
The decision was taken during a meeting between Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan and Union Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari in New Delhi.
The huge cost for land acquisition came in the way of NH development; the state’s proposals made last month were agreed on Tuesday.
Talking to media, CM Pinarayi said state government would initiate measures to widen the national highway to 45 metres.
