Abhaya case: charge-sheet filed, trial to start on August 14

Thiruvananthapuram: The charge sheet in the sensational sister Abhaya murder case was filed in CBI court on Monday. The trial will begin on August 14.

Special judge K Sanalkumar read out in front of Fr Thomas Kottoor (first accused) and Sr Sephy( third accused) that  Abhaya saw them in a compromising position on the night of March 27, 1992, as they were having a relationship.

The charge sheet said that Abhaya was then hacked with an axe and was thrown into the well.

The duo committed offences punishable under IPC section 302(murder) and 201 (destroying evidence) and read with section 34.

The accused, the court said, had tried to fabricate the case as suicide.
