New Delhi: Union minister for state V. Muraleedharan said that a decision on establishing a permanent centre of National Disaster Response Force will be taken within two days. He also said that Kerala is not facing financial crisis and the Centre has given everything it asked for. He was talking to media after a meeting with Union minister for state Nityanand Rai and NDRF officials.

An emergency aid of Rs 52 Cr has been given to Kerala.  Kerala government still holds  Rs 1500 Cr from the fund granted last year. Hence there is no financial crisis in Kerala. Muraleedharan said that minister Nityanand Rai told him that he was appraised by Pinarayi Vijayan that the aid provided was sufficient.

The next steps will be taken upon the receipt of report from the state government after assessing the damages caused.  Based on the report, a Central team comprising officials of various departments will be sent to Kerala. At present 13 teams of NDRF are deployed in the state. More crew will be sent if needed. The Centre has made a preliminary assessment that the situation now is nearing normalcy. The minister also said that he will visit Malappuram and Wayanad districts, where landslides occured, on Friday.
