Sting operation: Police records MK Raghavan’s statement

Kozhikode: Police on Monday recorded the statement of MK Raghavan on the controversial sting operation by a Hindi news channel in which Raghavan had allegedly sought Rs 5 crore rupees, while mouthing off on the expenditure incurring in the last election.

A three member team led by Kozhikode SP P Wahid spent an hour at Raghavan’s residence recording the statement.

The action is taken after DYFI leader Muhammed Riyas filed a complaint to State Election Commission and alongside MK Raghavan’s complaint alleging LDF conspiracy behind the sting operation. Election Commission handed to DGP the complaint from CPM saying Raghavan breached the code of conduct  

Police will continue to investigate the case and will take statements of the owner and reporters of the channel who conducted the sting operation. Police will also collect the original footage of sting operation, SP Wahid said.

Let the people decide, said MK Raghavan who is contesting as the UDF candidate from Kozhikode constituency in upcoming Lok  Sabha elections.

SP Wahid will lead the probe into the content of the sting operation video. DCP MK Jamaludheen will inquire the complaint from MK Raghavan saying the video is made for defaming him.

District Collector S Sambasivarao had submitted a report to Chief Election Commissioner Yesterday.
