SC dismisses NSS plea against caste-based reservation

New Delhi: The Supreme Court dismissed petitions by the Nair Service Society (NSS) and the Kerala Vaisya Kshema Sabha to end caste-based reservation in Kerala.

The Bench headed by Justices Arun Mishra and Vineet Saran allowed the petitioners to approach the High Court.

The petitioners had sought to set up a committee to conduct a survey to ascertain which communities are actually backward in Kerala.

In the wake of the Supreme Court order, NSS general secretary G. Sukumaran Nair said the organisation will approach Kerala High Court as per the SC's directive.
