Karippur to have more services in winter schedule
text_fieldsKaripur: More services will commence from the Calicut International Airport in the winter schedule starting from October 29.
In the backdrop of medium and large aircraft getting permission, services which were shifted to other airports earlier, will also resume plying to and from Karipur.
At present, only Saudi Airlines has got the permission for the service of medium and large aircraft. After the completion of Hajj services, Saudi Arabia has been trying to resume the services to and from Karipur in the first week of October itself.
The reason for the delay is the non-completion of procedures by the Civil Aviation Ministry. If the permission is delayed again, the services will be started by including them in the winter schedule.
Four services to Riyadh and three to Jeddah are reportedly planned. A B 777-200 ER aircraft which can carry 341 passengers and A 330-300 aircraft with 298 passengers will be used in Karipur sector. More cargo can also be carried.
With the services starting in the Kozhikode-Jeddah sector, there will be an increase in the number of passengers.
The Hajj and Umra travels of the private groups will also be through Karipur with the use of large aircrafts.
Air India has also given an application to the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) for starting a service to Jeddah using B 747-400. With permission granted, Air India too will begin services during the winter schedule.
