More dams to be opened by evening

Idukki: Just as heavy rains started pounding the state again, authorities have opened seven dams, and one shutter of Idukki Cheruthoni Dam will also be opened by Friday evening.

Dams already opened include Thrissur Chimmini, Thenmala Parappar, Aruvikkara and Neyyar. Others dams to be opened Friday afternoon are Kakki, Anathody, Pampa and Moozhiyar dams.

Also, the shutters of Banasura Sagar dam will be opened at 4 pm. Meanwhile, reports say that Mullaperiyar River is swelling.
