Karippur: There will be two embarkation points in Kerala for haj 2019, State Haj Committee Chairman C Mohammed Faizi said. The Chairman said this after having talked to Central Hajj Committee CEO Dr Maqsood Amed Khan and Deuty CEO's, at the Haj Committee headquarters in Mumbai.

The two embarkataion points will be Kozhikode and Kochi. Pilgrims will be free to choose either of the two airports at their convenience and to state their preference when applying for Hajj. Five applicants can be included in a single envelope.

Currently, states of Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, and Karnataka have two embarkation points.

From 20o2 to 2014 haj services were run from Karipur. However, when the Karippur runway was partially closed for renovation in 2015, it was shifted to Nedumbrassery. Now with the completion of the works in Karippur, the runway will be able to take large widebodies aircraft – a pre-requisite for scheduling haj flights.

The flight of those who perform haj in 2019, will be scheduled to touch Madina in the first leg and then they can travel to Mecca. This has ben along-standing demand of expatriates.
