Thiruvananthapuram: Industries minister EP Jayarajan stated that there is nothing wrong in giving sanction to breweries in the state. He added that the government will consider more applications to establish more breweries.

“AK Antony-led government had also sanctioned breweries in the state in 2003. Then excise minister VK Thomas had sanctioned the project,” said EP Jayarajan.

He asserted that there are no issues in giving license to breweries.

“We will consider establishing more breweries if the government receives more applications. We will consider the applications like panchayats consider applications for tea shops. Every administration authority is obliged to examine the applications and take necessary action on it,” he added.

Jayarajan said that applications for breweries will be examined and discussed for sanction. He noted that there is no irregularity in giving sanctions to new breweries.

'It is part of the government's liquor policy', he asserted.
